spotted succulent...
spotted succulent, just added to the shop...
{cotton, recycled linen, wire armature, wool stuffing, vintage pottery}
i knew when i found this piece of vintage tribal print pottery in an antique shop last month, that i'd have to wait patiently for just the right textiles... and then i came across this perfect shade of spotted cotton (a color somewhere between navy and teal and gray and green), which happened to pair perfectly with another blue recycled linen that i had. after that, i just had to convince myself that i could part with this one!

living room...
the forever evolving state of my home.
after moving all of the furniture around in the living room, i was left with a giant blank wall on one side... a drop cloth, a bit of paint, and the words of e.e. cummings helped fill the void. an under $20 project... which makes it easy to replace with another, when the mood strikes. several ideas are already floating about it my head; but, for now, reading this every morning over my cup of coffee is proving to be a lovely way to start the day. here is the full poem...
"i will wade out
till my thighs are steeped in burning flowers
I will take the sun in my mouth
and leap into the ripe air
Alive
with closed eyes
to dash against darkness
in the sleeping curves of my body
Shall enter fingers of smooth mastery
with chasteness of sea-girls
Will i complete the mystery
of my flesh
I will rise
After a thousand years
lipping
flowers
And set my teeth in the silver of the moon" - e.e. cummings

'My Wilderness':
Cursed and run from town to town
His shadow stays like a dog heel down Through the smoke and through the flames From the highest mountains to the lowest plain Redemption brings the final cost He's the walking ghost of your lover lost There are always people who Need someone and now it's you Here was sorrow and here was I Here was anger and here was my Wilderness where I'd remain Emptiness forever retain So count with me the battle scars They're our memories behind the bars Sister sister tell me it's true Do you need someone like I want you There are always people who Need someone and now it's you Sister sister tell me it's true Do you need someone like I want you

The Indian Girl Who Made Them
These, the Wings of the Morning,
An Indian Maiden wove,
Intertwining subtilely
Wands from a willow grove
Beside the Sangamon —
Rude stream of Dreamland Town.
She bound them to my shoulders
With fingers golden-brown.
The wings were part of me;
The willow-wands were hot.
Pulses from my heart
Healed each bruise and spot
Of the morning-glory buds,
Beginning to unfold
Beneath her burning song of suns untold.
