chinny chin chin....

i just wish i could pull off looking as absolutely cool as these kids!

using repurposed and vintage fabrics to create these stunning designs, esther croak of chinny chin chin, has me absolutely entranced... wish they came in my size

you can check out her lovely blog as well

a few words from esther about her work:

"chinny chin chin is my line of original progressive children's clothing. i believe in the merit of working with repurposed and vintage fabric as a way of being gentler on the earth's resources. cutting patterns from quality, repurposed garments or linen infuses the clothing with meaningful layers of existence."

and, it looks as if sewing patterns will soon be made available in her shop... can't wait

i've added a bundle of three of these needle felted wool craspedia stems, on upcycled cashmere wrapped wire, to the shop as well

'handed plea'...

'handed plea'

here we stand on this perilous rock.
change shifting beneath the soles,
spinning in forever chaos

( grasp, by b*wag )

here.
our print upon a world of connected tissue.
an unstoppable progression,
oscillating in our hands
here we float...
a careening pull around the middle,
tumble to the parallel path.
and again.  oh, once again.
please, not again

my back turned, eyes closed,
body bent into your inevitability
here.
my power to break free from fated destination,
carrying this earth down an avenue of my own making,
however fleeting.
a forever place in time.  a history made

that's done.  can't take me back.
carry me up by my wrists, if you must...
risk dislocating my will.
a shadow through the fingertips.
a cannon release.  can't push me into yesterday

and again.  oh, please again
there.
you've pulled too far.
impatience leaving the land open to our conscience.
a moral seed to plant and sow.
harvested for tomorrow's dance with lava flow and breaking ice.
tormented by eyes on the edge of extinction,
we heed the evening bell's call.
fingers intertwined. a swinging bridge of hope for carried promise.
a burden our backs will bear

dances in molecules...

a soul which dances in the molecules, soaring on waves of energy... never contained by the earthly body

oh, how this soul delights in the literal touch ~

rain drops rolling across the nerve endings of skin

heart pumping, lungs expanding to keep pace with the legs' out of control journey downhill

the subtle hint of flavor on tongue, and of life cycling through the marrow of this energy vessel

and that sweet embrace of love... souls meeting in a dance of tangled limbs, intoxicating smiles, aroma of young life

the soul becoming so painfully filled, so dangerously testing the heart's beating and the waves of brain's limited space with emotional exultation.  too much.  the soul bursts forth... a peter pan flight of happy thoughts soaring in sweet release from the container.  holding on to the memory of the senses... of touch and smell and voice meeting ears

this soul can float on this pocket of bliss, so long as it avoids that temptress of physicality.  but, like an addict to their drug, we crave more.  for this is life.  this is the miracle body that proffers our soul this journey

the never ending work of cells.  so desperately holding on to time for a soul which only knows the boundaries of such mundane notions while spending time here on land.  for as we humans live on after gifts of love and glass and fruit whither or break, carrying the memory rather than the physical object, so too does the soul

floating forever on the ecstasy of each second's mortal memory

saturday shopping list - april 17th

'of never ending discovery...'

"what can we gain by sailing to the moon if we are not able to cross the abyss that separates us from ourselves?  this is the most important of all voyages of discovery, and without it, all the rest are not only useless, but disastrous..."   ~  thomas merton (trappist monk)

"love is but the discovery of ourselves in others, and the delight in the recognition."  ~ alexander smith (scottish poet and essayist)

"the real voyage of discovery consists not it seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes."  ~ marcel proust (french novelist)

"one of the advantages of being disorderly is that one is constantly making exciting discoveries."  ~ a. a. milne (that lovely creator of winnie-the-pooh... and english humorist)

and, you can find this saturday shopping list inspired treasury, 'of never ending discovery', on the new treasury east... which is also in fact never ending.  no more expiration dates!  i believe it might be quite possible that i am, in fact, already, a wee bit addicted to this new treasury east.   i've created two in the first 24 hours... this is bad.  oh, who cares... this is fun!  and now that i've made a whole second, never ending treasury of etsy deliciousness, i really think i may be forced (HA!) into having a second shopping list this week... stay tuned

okay, now off to get dressed for my nephew's soccer game... even more fun than this treasury making ;)

happy weekend!
