"the true beloveds of this world are in their lover's eyes
lilacs opening, ship lights, school bells, a landscape,
remembered conversations, friends, a child's sunday,
lost voices, one's favorite suit, autumn and all seasons,
memory,
yes, it being the earth and water of existence,
memory."

'august close'...

{ click on the links below the captures to see these lovelies on flickr, and to see more work from each inspiring photographer }

'august close'

sweetness of dappled light and humming whisper
found in the wake of yesterday's cicada song.
soft breezes rush decaying fields.  to clashing gusts
of affection for the here and there love triangle of the seasons.

a tangled love. gives birth to galloping august,
pushed in eastern currents
toward new romance. of vivid color burst forth.

see color red.  does notos, but fret not, for would
first sweet autumn winds caress
without this passion of late summer's breath
pooling moisture in the hollows.

torrents of moisture. roll down as brother winds collide in afternoon
thunder sounds washing above into perfect blue:
a roaring season vanishing into its wake, of autumn's humming whisper.

'the morrow leads to milky way'...

'the morrow leads to milky way'

soft light, i fly into your haze.  the golden dust of yesterday

the now is pleasing to my taste.  the morrow leads to milky way

so, as a soul begins the waltz,  a proffered dance by journey's hand,

the molecules are all abandon, a fragile cadence 'tween bird and land

as on the solar circle path, the stars foretold this love and war,

we tread on deja-vu of faith.  the sea gives back unto the shore

the children's eyes reflect this lore,

a skipping record, played once more

simple world...

oh, how i wish i could remember more often to live a simple life.  to focus on each piece individually.  breathe and remind myself it is not a race of quantity

perhaps this is why i've always been drawn to novels of centuries past.  i don't deny the hardship and pain associated with many of those eras, but i try to pull out the slow pace.  the focus on each word that slips through the mouth.  the necessity to watch the seconds tick by into tomorrow.

it has been lovely not having a television this last year.  now, i will admit to watching a few shows i love on the internet (when i get around to it) as well as endless movies that accomplish the task of holding my interest and stirring my mind (or simply making me laugh until my stomach hurts).  but, to not waste the hours in front of drifting, soon to be forgotten images.  hours flashed by in a hurry of mundane, just passable use of my time.  sitting down at night to sew or read or watch a film which i truly enjoy makes the hours pass more as i remember them from childhood.

and, the more i force myself to pull away from constant use of technology, the easier it becomes to slow my body to match the beating of my heart.  but, there are many days i get sucked into the land of the computer, my fingers fluttering in anxiousness for something to hold and buttons to push.... a cycle of checking websites, emails, my phone....

so, now i will leave you with these simple images of beauty.  i will pull myself away from the buttons.  i will cook my dinner.  i will read my book.  i will slow my world

small moments, forever treasures...

"you must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment."  ~ henry david thoreau

now, i will happily admit to finding joy in reminiscing over the pleasant memories, dreaming of adventures to come... but, there is equal joy to be found in letting the present envelop you, feeling alive in each molecule of your being in a single moment, breathing deep and joyfully laughing at the surprising nature of the world around you

spent a lovely day at the zoo with my niece and nephew this weekend, followed by a pancake dinner, and completed with a sleepover and bagels for breakfast.  oh, how could i have left my camera behind, missing the capture of small moments at the zoo?  yet, how many small moments in these adventures will forever be captured in that little camera of the mind... stored away for instant recall, perusal, laughs, and smiles whenever i want.  it is sometimes so refreshing just to put the camera down for a day and simply live in the moments, basking in the now

that being said, i do so appreciate peeking through the window, into a world of moments i never lived, never saw... seeing into the mind of others, enjoying their little moments, captured forever for all to share.  an endless possibility of interpretation, sparking smiles and giggles and our own memories of the mind
