i thought i would share our latest prairie seed blog post as well (check out the blog for more):

kinfolk...

the wonderful kinfolk magazine... a little beauty for the soul.  and what a fantastic gift (for yourself or a loved one)

kinfolk's manifesto:

Kinfolk is a growing community of artists with a shared interest in small gatherings. We recognize that there is something about a table shared by friends, not just a wedding or once-a-year holiday extravaganza, that anchors our relationships and energizes us. We have come together to create Kinfolk as our collaborative way of advocating the natural approach to entertaining that we love.

Every element of Kinfolk—the features, photography, and general aesthetics—are consistent with the way we feel entertaining should be: simple, uncomplicated, and less contrived. Kinfolk is the marriage of our appreciation for art and design and our love for spending time with family and friends.

for what i was became the now...

sharing another post today, originally published in august of last year, as i continue to reflect on three years of blogging.

this blog holds, for me, a visual journal of an unexpected path, as i try to imagine the direction it leads...  seeing how i've grown and changed in three years time;  looking forward to the surprise of the next three.

thanks again to all of you for becoming a part of this adventure...

' for what i was became the now '

oh, how you lilt within the blowing air, little pod.
dances wrapped in the familiarity all around, and branches filled in tinkling harmonious sway.
as days advance, the light calls forth movement in the atmosphere.

how fast you hold onto the now, little pod.
time pulling with inevitable force;  such a tenuous grasp for stability.
the frightening exhilaration of the plummet; the length this pod can see.

see the bottom dropped from this world, little pod.
terror seizes, leaving fluttered spirals to blindly reach toward solid ground.
how unfortunate, the joy of finite flight is missed.

feel wind expelled from lungs, little pod.
dazed, prostrate pod can only gaze upon the distant branch of above. the home.
movement only coming by the winds will to carry the future lay of the land.

a little pod no more,
as split wrappings of this skin disintegrate into earth.
insides laid open for the cycle to make this turn and nourish the depths.  time held dormant in ice.

speak the decision to continue on, little seeds.
clear of pods straddling midsummer days; pods washed away in stormy torrent.
press hands toward kindred spirits, digging into neighboring ground; comfort in companionship.

now little roots, miraculous footing found.
oh! this new life sprouting from the depths of soul; so immersed, the little pod never felt this future.
vessel changing in a fleeting touch of almost remembrance.

these green veiny protrusions, destined for you, little limbs.
such familiarity in this quivering dance; fragility carried by stronger arms.
the difference comes with the view, as eyes look down and up upon the life; every molecule is mine.

warmth laid out ahead pulls this little tree.
how funny. the time and pain and depth of being that were given over to that frightening journey.
tearing open the inside to force the hand to move, i suppose.

{ untitled; by la sendi }

here i stand tall.
sweeping winds may only sway this strengthened core,
releasing the fear with each piece of my being carried into glorious new realms.

no longer just a piece of the one but of the everything wandering toward forever.

the path i've paved. the place it leads...

a few words, in lieu of the saturday shopping list today (as i've been out and about on this tremendously warm, spring day).  revisiting a piece i wrote and posted about one year ago, in april of 2010, a result of looking back over three years of posting on this blog...

'dances in molecules'

a soul which dances in the molecules,

soaring on waves of energy... never contained by the earthly body.

oh, how this soul delights in the literal touch ~

rain drops rolling

across the nerve endings of skin;

heart pumping, lungs expanding

to keep pace with the legs' out of control journey downhill;

the subtle hint of flavor

on tongue, and of life cycling through the marrow of this energy vessel;

and that sweet embrace of love...

souls meeting in a dance of tangled limbs,

intoxicating smiles, aroma of young life.

the soul becoming so painfully filled,

so dangerously testing the heart's beating

and the waves of brain's limited space

with emotional exultation. too much.

the soul bursts forth... a peter pan flight of happy thoughts

soaring in sweet release from the container.

holding on to the memory of the senses...

of touch and smell and voice meeting ears.

this soul can float on this pocket of bliss, so long as it avoids

that temptress of physicality.

but, like an addict to their drug, we crave more. for this is life.

this is the miracle body

that proffers our soul this journey.

the never ending work of cells.

so desperately holding on to time

for a soul which only knows the boundaries of such mundane notions

while spending time here on land.

for as we humans live on after gifts of love and glass and fruit whither or break,

carrying the memory rather than the physical object,

so too does the soul.

floating forever on the ecstasy of each second's mortal memory.

a very happy saturday to all of you, and a sincere thank you to all you lovely readers for sharing in my journey...

i'm planning a giveaway for next week... perhaps an orchid?  what would you like to see?
