sorry for the lack of posts this past week, but i do have plenty of excuses lined up:
excuse number one: i did spend a few days, with my sister and nephew and niece, down by the lake in a yurt... completely (and delightfully) free of all technology. despite the excessive heat, it truly was a lovely few days with a lake for swimming, forest trails for walking, and a campfire for marshmallow roasting. no computer, no phone, no thoughts beyond nature, family, friends, and bugs...
excuse number two: the bugs. normally i find that i'm a magnet for all pesky, nibbling (or blood sucking) bugs. therefore, i fully expected to walk away from the trip resembling some horrifying page from a dermatology manual. how pleasantly surprised i was to find a lack of such bugs around the campsite. the reason? bug eating wasps... hundreds of bug eating wasps. and one in particular, which flew up my jumper for a sting. i had a bit of a reaction to the sting, coming home with swelling, pain, and an excessive feeling of fatigue which led to seventeen straight hours of sleep... never in my life have i slept so long. it took another day to fully awaken from the haze...
excuse number three: when i did finally emerge from the murky waters, i had a brand new sewing machine yet to be played with... along with piles of textiles for custom orders waiting to be stitched. another day of stitching awaits my hands today, but not before i took a few moments to share some lovelies from flickr...
