swoon worthy fashion...

forgive me.  this post is about to explode in fashion overload.  this is what i do... peruse the never ending chain of delicious design online, so as to sate my appetite and prevent any real shopping sprees (i'm more of the 'take design inspiration and use it at the thrift store' kind of girl, in general... but having a few designer pieces in the closet is always nice)

so we'll begin today's design journey with the sweet emilia dress, from up the wooden hills... sewn from four different beautiful, cotton liberty of london fabrics.  such a lovely combination of fun and femininity and simplicity...

next up, the wonderful online boutique, fina du, featuring the fabulous work of designers such as malen birger and ida sj√∂stedt.  the perfect go-to dresses...

and continuing on to the exquisite spring/summer 2011 collection by raoul.  oh, the colors, and lines, and fabrics... timeless

and finally, the perfect lingerie to complete the look, from zinke.  how could you not feel divine when wearing these?...

antique silk crepe de chine lingerie floral dressing gown, from 5gardenias

"since feeling is first
who pays any attention
to the syntax of things
will never wholly kiss you;

wholly to be a fool
while spring is in the world

my blood approves,
and kisses are a far better fate
than wisdom
lady i swear by all flowers. don't cry
- the best gesture of my brain is less than
your eyelids' flutter which says

we are for each other: then
laugh, leaning back in my arms
for life's not a paragraph

and death i think is no parenthesis

~  'since feeling is first' ; e. e. cummings

well, it's been one of those weeks... 'blah', followed by a 'really??', finished with a hearty dose of 'i. am. done with it." ... and it's only tuesday.  during such weeks, i feel that a steady stream of good music is the appropriate answer...

here are a few of the lovely bands on my playlist today

must. stop. thrifting...

as i'm moving to a new place this summer, i've been trying (with partial success) to avoid buying anything for the house...

but what happens when one is presented with a true thrifting treasure, which you just know in your very core will be the perfect piece for that lonely spot in your house (or sometimes when you just know in your very core that you can shift things around to make that perfect spot in your house)?  well, here are a few pieces which ended up coming home with me as a result...

the fabulous, midcentury dark glass lamp (with the perfect patina on the metal base, i might add), pictured above, was one i bought on a half-price thrift store day for $12.  so, i didn't feel too guilty about snatching this one up

please try to ignore the sad state of the succulent behind the lamp.  despite all appearances, i do actually have a fairly green thumb... it's the watering part that i frequently forget about.  again, this is why i make textile plants

and a lovely old, wooden peg rack is always useful.  this one will function as a place to dry my flowers and herbs... the sweet hanging planter is from ikea

all of these pieces were actually purchased weeks ago... my resolve is holding steady at present

saturday shopping list - may 21st...

cavallo cocktail hat, by jaderosedesigns

a little fun, summertime fashion for today's shopping list...  in response to yet another ninety degree day, here in georgia.  what happened to those endless seventy degree days of spring, which so welcomed me into this state two years ago?  was it all a lie?  a tease?  are we doomed to ninety degree days for the next four months!

so, summer dresses and ice cream, concerts in the park and bare foot romps through the grass, camping trips and dips in the water... i leave it to you to see us through the heat
